CYCLING
Maribor offers many opportunities for city or mountain biking. A lot of undemanding paths will reveal numerous secrets and urban attractions. A cycling map in your pocket will ensure that you do not miss a single sight. The path along the Drava river is waiting for you to take a ride towards the sunset, stop at the oldest vine in the world along the way, try a glass of good wine and enjoy the sight at the Maribor bridges. The Art Gallery of Maribor in cooperation with the Maribor cycling network prepared Forma Viva, which offers an extremely interesting insight into the various characteristics of the city. You can also try an urban cycling adventure that will not leave you indifferent. Mountain lovers can enjoy a beautiful 75km long Biking transversal on Pohorje, which runs through the forest reserve Šumik, along waterfalls, a pond and several huts, where the owners take care of everyone who is hungry and thirsty. Maribor and its surroundings offer a lot for mountain bikers. Explore the world of wonders and get on the road!
SKIING, SNOWBOARDING, CROSS COUNTRY SKIING
Maribor-Pohorje is the largest ski resort in Slovenia with a 10 km long track for night skiing and a 100 day snow guarantee during winter season. We are proud to host the largest number of skiers in Slovenia. Here everyone can find a suitable track and choose between slopes for beginners and slopes fot the most demanding skiers -> 43 km of slopes at an altitude from 325 to 1327 meters above sea level. You will also get satisfaction by cross-country ski trails. Each year in January, the white slopes of Maribor host the annual Golden Fox, the ladies Word Cup skiing event, where you can enjoy a great atmosphere.
SWIMMING
You can relax in the olympic pool of the indoor swimming center Pristan in the heart of the city. The pools have small diving jumps and a five-meter diving tower for the most courageous. The Spa complex also offers sauna and a fitness studio.
On Mariborski otok (a unique type of river island in Slovenia) you can enjoy summer in an outdoor swimming pool complex. Just like by the sea, the pleasant closeness of nature, several species of rare birds and the distance from the city, the surroundings conjure a perfect summer relaxation.
SKATEBOARDING
Skate park Maribor is located in the proximity of the elementary school Tabor 2, in the Generations park at Pekre stream. Many skateboarders sharpen their skills in Tezno under the railway underpass, in front of Nova KBM in the city center and other great skating corners.
HIKING
The region of forests and colorful vineyard hills awaits you. Discover the Pohorje forest, Lovrenc, Črno and Ribnica peat bogs with lakes, the magnificent waterfalls Veliki Šumik and Mali Šumik and the clear Lobnica river. Hike between vineyards, orchards and woods, along the wine roads and vantage points. Hospitality and culinary delights of the locals are just icing on the cake to the outstanding natural and cultural heritage. Young aspiring and older inquisitive hikers can try various thematic or learning hikes. We recomend Rozkino trail to get you on the way.
ADRENALINE
A genuine outdoor gym is sited in Betnava forest. The Betnava Adventure Park offers 55 different elements, 6 different paths with different levels of complexity, 638 m of climbing routes in the trees, on poles and footbridges, two 50 and 100 m suspended paths and 20 other paths. Action!!!
Another adrenaline adventure lies on Pohorje, where you can test your courage on the high ropes course, enjoy summer sledging, play XXL football, search for the lost treasure and do many other things that will increase your blood pressure:)
RIDING
In riding clubs Maribor, Piramida, Karlo and Pohorje you may try field or tourism riding. Beginners can also get riding lessons. On Pohorje you can choose among several riding tours. You can step, trot or canter to explore the wonderful world of forests and may also encounter a forest fairy along the way.
ON A RIVER OR A LAKE
Try a traditional raft ride down the Drava river, learn how to sail and surf, have a paddling competition or rent a boat and enjoy a wonderful day on a lake.
IN AIR
Take a flight in a hot air balloon and rest your eyes on the beautiful view of the upper Drava valley and the hills of Slovenske gorice. If enjoying a view is not to your liking, and you wish to get your adrenaline flowing, we suggest tandem skydiving.
